Can I purchase a firearm with my past history? Please Answer.?

I am an avid hunter. I have been my whole life. When i was 13 i was admitted to a childrens mental facility for anxiety problems. I was voluntarily admitted. There was absolutely no law enforcement involved. I am now 19 and would like to buy a new hunting rifle. I live in New York state. I understand they conduct an FBI background check on somebody when purchasing a firearm. Since I was a minor and no law enforcement was involved, will it still come up on the check? I don't care to hear that I should not be owning a gun, I have been going hunting and target shooting since I was 10.
