No. Never soak leather, in hot water or otherwise. Just wipe it off with a dry cloth or kitchen paper, then dampen and clean as usual. If it is stiff, just do the cleaning, then soak in neatsfoot oil or similar for a couple of hours to make it more supple, wipe off the oil and then give a good layer of glycerine saddle soap.
