Dalmatians and their temperaments?

Is it true that majority of the Dalmatians have temperament issues such as aggression? 99% of the Dalmatians I have met are aggressive towards other dogs. One has even bitten my dog in the face unprovoked. She was just minding her own business and the dog lunged for her face and got her in the eye. My friend says she has heard a lot of "horror stories" about Dalmatians biting childrens' faces. Are their temperaments supposed to be like that?
