How to grip better with my tall boots?

So I have these tall boots that i got and i really like them BUT they slip and slide sooooo muchhh. I've felt the sides of my friends tall boots and they do not feel anything like the sides of mine, their leather has like more of a grip to it whereas mine are just supperr slick and stuff that make it almost impossible for me to grip my saddle/horse well when i ride with them. My legs usually don't swing much when i ride so i know that it's because of my boots, is there any way to like scuff up my boots or anything? i seriously need help lol
