A genre is a category of literature. Children are typically exposed to: fiction, historical fiction, poetry, mystery, fantasy, science fiction, biographical novels, rhyming books. While it important to expose a child to books, it is equally as important to expose them to the various genres - types of books. This will give them a broader view of literature, reading, and help them as they learn to write different types of papers as well.
